Our Story

Where We Started

We are a small family run business that is based in North Devon. Our business idea took shape after our main wage earner was made redundant after working for the same company for over 20 years. From looking at the situation we found ourselves in we decided to seize this opportunity and set up our own business. Out of this, our company “Happy Wildlife” was created.

We have always had an interest in nature and over the years have found that by providing homes and feeders we have encouraged a range of wildlife into our own garden. We have a range of regular visitors, such as blackbirds and goldfinches who visit for food, to a pair of blue tits which decided to nest and raise their young in one of our own handmade bird homes. We also have many visiting hedgehogs, which occasionally spend their days sleeping in our handmade hedgehog home.

From our own experience of the wildlife we have seen in our garden, we decided to utilise our own ideas and designs to create our own product range of feeders and homes. This gives us the scope and knowledge to make wildlife friendly products to help encourage them to investigate your garden and to keep any visitors safe and happy by providing them a secure place to feed and sleep.

The ethos of our business is to reuse, recycle and use environmentally friendly materials wherever possible. Many of our products use reclaimed wood, which otherwise would have ended up in landfill and any plastic that is used, is recycled plastic or Greencast acrylic. We make every attempt that each item we produce is made, where possible, from environmentally friendly materials, making sure that we adhere to our ethos. Each product is handmade and also finished to the same standard that we would expect of the products we use in our own garden.

We want to help all our wildlife to live better, happier and safer lives, no matter how big or small they are and believe it all starts with providing them a safe place to feed and live.

Our business is growing and with this we’re expanding our product range from bird homes to hedgehog hotels and feeding stations for various wildlife to explore.
